woo hoo! Had Science Kit Training yesterday and today. I am so thankful that I am finally working in a district (and school) that has a SCIENCE curriculum. This spring we will be learning about organisms and will be getting pill bugs, millipedes or beetles, guppies, snails and some grasses. From there we will be building terrariums and aquariums. Should be pretty fun....having a ZOO in my classroom lol
So, for the training we did a LOT of prepping of ideas and projects we could do to compliment our Science kit. There were a lot of things to do that's for sure. Now, just comes the time to do all of them (which I know won't happen but, I can dream heh)
I will be getting 12 clock hours for this plus when I go to follow up training I will be receiving a rather big stipend (yea!!!) Have I mentioned how I love this district??? Some people complain about everything and anything and sometimes I hear teachers complain about their 27 students but um....come talk to ME about that and I'll set you in your place in that your mouth should be CLOSED until you have 37 on your roster like I did last year!
I have been asked to attend another training in Portland at the end of the month. Have I mentioned how it feels so nice that I'm not in the red in the middle or end of paydays? I can't wait to go SHOPPING in Portland.
And call me crazy but I love to do taxes. I did all my taxes including business stuff and I will be getting a good amount back. What will I do with it? Not sure yet but I know some will be tucked away so Sydney and I can go to Seattle and Spokane this summer to visit friends and relatives plus be able to do some fun stuff while we are there. I'm already tentavely planning....spokane end of July and Seattle in June...I'm hoping. My 20 yr reunion is in August.....sigh........
One thing that IS hard about being a single parent 24/7/365 is the whole child support issue. My daughter's "father" (I say that term loosely as he is not involved in her life whatsoever) is now out of the military apparently. Was told she would not be on tricare any longer as of 2/1/12 so I assumed that that is when my support would stop. This would create somewhat of a hardship on me but....I prepared just in case. I stalked my account for several days but then saw on Friday that Child Support Enforcement was able to collect it from him! yesssss! Not sure about March 1 but for now, it's good. As a single parent you learn to count on this. Daycare is expensive, children grow rapidly, they do like to eat and it's nice to have heat in the house and gas in the car...just sayin..... Some people chose to argue with those receiving child support stating how it's just "too much money" but my argument back will be best served in a future blog ; )
