Scentsy's New Cause!

Beginning March 1, Scentsy will have a new cause to donate to.  This will be the American Heart Association! Recently, I found out that a classmate of mine had a heart attack at age 35.....35!  WAY to young.  Fortunately, he is doing very well 3 years later thanks to our local hospital.  Let's honor those who have survived heart attacks and strokes and those who have passed on because of them.  Mark your calenders for March 1 and order this warmer.  100% of the net proceeds will go the American Heart Association.

Let's Educate Ourselves

On Facebook, there have been MANY people reposting things basically telling people that they shouldn't be mourning for Whitney Houston because our military should be the ones that people are mourning.  It is a comparison between the two and a "shame on you" post for people who ARE sad about Whitney's passing.  Here's what I have to say....EDUCATE YOURSELF.

This country is NOT a dictatorship yet people are TELLING others they should be ashamed of themselves for basically mourning or feeling sad about anyone BUT the military.  What kind of thinking is that?!  Do you mean to tell me that if one of my family members die, I shouldn't be stating it on facebook or anywhere else, nor expressing my sadness and mourning because I need to only be mourning and feeling sad IF the person is in the military?  When I have stated this to a few of my "friends" on Facebook, there has been NO educated response back.  Quite funny in my opinion.

People can mourn WHO they want to, HOW they want to, for however LONG they want to.  It is not up to YOU, ME, THE GOVERNMENT, FACEBOOK, ANYONE to tell you who or how to mourn.  Frankly, this whole thing has pissed me off way beyond what I thought it would.  To be honest, I have even considered defriending these people that are posting such things because of this.

However, let's give my friends the benefit of the doubt.  Let's say what they are really meaning to say is "the media needs to start covering deaths of our military as much as they covering the death of a celebrity".  If that's what they are really meaning to say, then why post it on facebook?  Are the news stations really reading your status updates? No, they aren't.  So, here's an idea, if this is what you mean then STOP posting it on everyone's wall and instead, email the news stations, newspapers and other media and let them know how you feel, otherwise, this is just a jab to myself, others and the dead people's FAMILY telling them they have NO RIGHT to mourn someone unless they are military which is a bunch of crap.

So, there are my thoughts on this Whitney Houston vs. the Military (which is pretty stupid to be comparing anyway)  By the way, NO ONE is more important than anyone else on this earth.  We are ALL important so let's treat everyone that way.

Another Weekend Gone

Well, another weekend has come and gone.  My daughter is now sounding out words and already knows a few simple sight words.  She is using her finger to track words while she "reads".  She says she likes math and did "homework" on Friday night for 1 1/2 hours in her Preschool workbook.  While signing Valentine's cards, she said, "Mommy look, I can make an 'm'." and she did.  I then had her write the word "mom" since she knows how to write 'o'.  My daughter amazes me.

Before 5pm on Sunday, my weekend filled up fast.  Friday night I am going to a comedy club with a friend and then my friend from Spokane is coming to visit for the day on Saturday.  I am SO excited!!  I am hoping to make it up there over Spring Break.  She said we can stay at her house so I just have to budget for gas and food.  I would like to take my daughter to Riverfront Park and also to see the wolves in Idaho.  Money for that shouldn't be TOO much....

This summer we are going to go to the Millwood car show and then over to Seattle where she can meet her cousin, Aunts and Uncle.  I also want to take her to the aquarium.

As I'm watching the Grammy's, Rhianna is on.  I look at her and am just amazed.  For one, she is a great entertainer but also she is another one of us who survived abuse.  Unfortunately, I heard rumors that she is in contact with her ex who beat the crap out of her and this communication happened shortly after the incident happened.  That part sickens me.  Before she performed, her ex performed and I about puked.  He is a woman beater and doesn't deserve recognition.  Reformed?  Highly doubtful since from day ONE after the incident his outlook on things was not right.  Counseling with a"family friend" and then 2 weeks later saying he's "fine" is not right.  I pity the next woman that falls for that piece of crap.

I weighed in and measured at Curves a few weeks ago.  Disgusted.  I have been faithfully working out on a set schedule and what happens after a month? I GAINED weight and lost 0 inches.  this is why I quit exercise because this happens EVERY time.  I don't get it.  I'm sure people reading this will think "well, it's because you ate like crap" um...no.  Yes, I went to Seattle and splurged on cheesecake a few times but you don't gain 10lbs from just that.  A few weeks I was tracking my food online through Weight Watchers and that week, I gained weight.  I even stayed within my points.  What changed? Exercise.  I'm wondering if what Curves has set up is doing more harm than good.  I will stay with them one more month and if nothing happens I'm going to get out of my contract with them based on the fact that I'm doing nothing but gaining weight.

Valentine's day is coming up and it's crap.  This is not based on the fact that I am still single after 1 1/2 years though that has sucked big time. = (  Even when I have had a boyfriend at this time it hasn't been anything special.  My ex Mike bought me chocolates (when I really didn't want them because I knew I would eat all of them and gain weight) and took me to dinner.  Dinner WAS nice but my bitch of an exroommate actually set me up to tell me he was buying me flowers.  When I waited all night for them and didn't get any I was devastated.  Bitch.

As far as Scentsy goes, this month is 10% off month and I am so tempted to buy everything I can lol  No more winter scents and I keep thinking I need more warmers!  No, I don't.  I have enough. ha ha

Weeks.....

Why are weeks so hectic?  As the weekend wraps up, I think....oh yea..I only have Curves on M,W, and F.  Nothing on T/Th.  Then Monday comes along and within 12 hours the rest of my week is BOOKED!  Sometimes I wonder why I am involved with so many things.  It's making my head spin a bit right now!
1. I am a full-time mom:  Sydney is in the midst of potty training AND she is working SO hard to get ready for Kindergarten.  She is only 3 and wants to go to school soooo bad.
2.  My first year in a new district as a teacher.  I am so thankful that we have tons of resources to complete academic work and sometimes I run out of time!  But, I have been invited to so many things! lol  I am working on a curriculum committee, went to the National Title I conference in Seattle, and now will be involved with PBIS which is a Behavior Intervention Program and will be attending a conference in Portland!  Not to mention other trainings such as GLAD and Science training.
3. I volunteered to be on our high school reunion committee.  Now....I am the chairman for advertising/businesses.  yikes! lol
4.  I made a committment to work out.
5.  Scentsy consultant

Kinda glad I don't have too many friends around here yet because I don't hardly have time for much else.  I went out to have a beer and chat with an old high school classmate and then I will be going out to dinner with a friend this week.  This friend WAS a victim of abuse and I am so proud of her for getting out of it.  Then I have a friend who became a victim recently.  Which leads me to saying.......

I am SO tired of hearing about friends being victims of domestic violence!!!  I am about to go postal and not practice what I preach on this jerks that are doing this to my friends and people I care about!!!!! grrrrr

Well, off to clean my house up a bit, get my daughter ready for a bubble bath and get things ready for tomorrow.

Lesson Learned: STOP volunteering for so many things or......make myself a calender and start scheduling things in INCLUDING cleaning, laundry and....thinking.

Trainings!

woo hoo!  Had Science Kit Training yesterday and today.  I am so thankful that I am finally working in a district (and school) that has a SCIENCE curriculum.  This spring we will be learning about organisms and will be getting pill bugs, millipedes or beetles, guppies, snails and some grasses.  From there we will be building terrariums and aquariums.  Should be pretty fun....having a ZOO in my classroom lol

So, for the training we did a LOT of prepping of ideas and projects we could do to compliment our Science kit.  There were a lot of things to do that's for sure.  Now, just comes the time to do all of them (which I know won't happen but, I can dream heh)

I will be getting 12 clock hours for this plus when I go to follow up training I will be receiving a rather big stipend (yea!!!)  Have I mentioned how I love this district???  Some people complain about everything and anything and sometimes I hear teachers complain about their 27 students but um....come talk to ME about that and I'll set you in your place in that your mouth should be CLOSED until you have 37 on your roster like I did last year!

I have been asked to attend another training in Portland at the end of the month.  Have I mentioned how it feels so nice that I'm not in the red in the middle or end of paydays?  I can't wait to go SHOPPING in Portland.

And call me crazy but I love to do taxes.  I did all my taxes including business stuff and I will be getting a good amount back.  What will I do with it?  Not sure yet but I know some will be tucked away so Sydney and I can go to Seattle and Spokane this summer to visit friends and relatives plus be able to do some fun stuff while we are there.  I'm already tentavely planning....spokane end of July and Seattle in June...I'm hoping.  My 20 yr reunion is in August.....sigh........

One thing that IS hard about being a single parent 24/7/365 is the whole child support issue.  My daughter's "father" (I say that term loosely as he is not involved in her life whatsoever) is now out of the military apparently.  Was told she would not be on tricare any longer as of 2/1/12 so I assumed that that is when my support would stop.  This would create somewhat of a hardship on me but....I prepared just in case.  I stalked my account for several days but then saw on Friday that Child Support Enforcement was able to collect it from him!  yesssss!  Not sure about March 1 but for now, it's good.  As a single parent you learn to count on this.  Daycare is expensive, children grow rapidly, they do like to eat and it's nice to have heat in the house and gas in the car...just sayin.....  Some people chose to argue with those receiving child support stating how it's just "too much money" but my argument back will be best served in a future blog ; )
